“Walker-H”

The H-series of mechanical walkers were the first attempts to create machines that could heal, reducing the need for clerics. Its healing abilities are more potent when it is in danger.

In the old version of Catharsis, enemy bios were only viewable when you were fighting that enemy. In the upcoming newer version, they can be read in the Bestiary menu if you’ve scanned the enemy. While writing these entries, I wanted to include gameplay hints. Some enemies have some creepy backstory as well—I was a big fan of the strange enemy descriptions in the Shadow Hearts games.

Pixeling machines are so much fun. I’ve been churning out some of the last couple of enemy sprites I need for the game’s revised demo, which should be available soon! (There’s an event going on at rpgmaker.net whose deadline is the weekend of May 4)

These were two versions of the same enemy; the one on the right was finished first. The one on the left was an experiment with colors, but I think it turned out so much better!

This is a pretty heavy edit of a sprite from Rondo of Swords. It still takes me a while to animate sprites decently, though. :v Gotta start somewhere!

(so i guess text posts stop tumblr from blurring pixel art? that’s weird)

There aren’t many premade enemy graphics out there that look good in a sideview battle system, much less mechanical or creepy ones, so I tried to pixel my own!
Pixeling some exposed organs for the “slime” enemy was fun, heh.

Revamped the status menu with a custom background image and character portraits I drew.
Thanks to some scripting help from a friend, the menu icons on the left have been changed from yellow icons to multicolored icons that are easier to distinguish. :)

I’ve been trying to get the hang of GraphicsGale’s interface lately, and ended up finishing some taller sprites for three characters. They look kinda cute and you can see their legs!
However, I’m not sure if I want to convert all of Catharsis’s sprites to this style. If I do, I’d have to throw out all of the old chibi battle sprites and franken some new ones…
