world map: the dream world of Oneiro
All current locations are shown. It’s pretty much finished until I inevitably redo it in the next few months! bluh. For some reason the world map template I was using is really laggy and crash-prone on my computer. D:
A WIP progression of a custom character portrait.
I’ve been practicing some more with Sai and this happened! After changing Catharsis to a “widescreen” resolution (640x416 px), all the current character portraits get cut off at the waist from the extra screen space.
Instead of trying to fill in the empty space (and fucking up horribly, haha), I think I’ll just redraw all the important characters so that they match my original ideas, and then use the old portraits as references for their different emotions.

This is a shot of another dungeon, but with a cute little meter thing!
I put together a new system regarding the touch encounters in Catharsis. Instead of having monsters respawn every time you leave a map, they respawn every 10 times or so.
If you’d like to read more about this, I went into more detail on its gamepage: http://rpgmaker.net/games/3027/blog/8243/
Some WIP screenshots of an industrialized underground town called the “Undercity”. It’s supposed to look like a place where a thieves’ guild would hang out…
Let’s Try Catharsis (part 1) by Clareain_Christopher on RMN
“Let’s Try” videos are like let’s plays, but they’re mostly meant to give feedback to the developer.
For National Game Development Month (NaGaDeMo), I’ve finished up a demo for Catharsis. It’s free to play, and you can download it below:

Hope you enjoy it! :D

Although I keep telling myself not to, I’ve been redesigning maps here and there. The progress on the demo’s coming along okay. Assuming progress goes along well, I’d like to release it sometime this month!
NaGaDeMo, gogogo~

Here, have another interior! Sometimes I wonder how much time I’ve really blown on redoing these maps.
worth it!

Interiors and run-down places are some of my favorite locations to map. The older version of this was very narrow and borderline unfair when you needed to maneuver around the touch encounters!
Another quick update! Now the game’s title screen changes colors if you stay there long enough.
The song in the video is the game’s main theme, composed by Happy at RMN. This, as well as other songs he’s made, will be in the next release in the game. :)

Just some content copypasta from the gamepage, don’t mind me! :p
A rebellion against “You shouldn’t mix XP and VX tiles together” pt. 2

I’ve been playing around with Ace a bit more. Still not really a big fan of the engine because of petty shit like forced window transparency and broken custom font rendering that needs multiple script patches.
Two issues that old VX didn’t have, and people bitch about its broken Game_Interpreter script! :v The character creator tool’s great for making NPC’s, though, I’ll give it that.
I’m not sure if Divinorum, the working title of the game pictured above, will be a real game or not. But picking out icons is easy and fun! Where Catharsis is the “purple” game, Divinorum would be the “red” game. (aaaand not secretly about pot~)
deliberately monochromatic games, gogogo!
